The Accessible Scholastic Experience

About Us
There's a place for you here!
Our Purpose
The Accessible Scholastic Experience is devoted to fostering creativity, empathy, and inclusivity.
Our Vision
At our outdoor day camp, children will immerse themselves in nature while engaging in art, science, and team-building activities. Our diverse program also incorporates mathematics and literacy, ensuring campers continue their educational development throughout the summer. We believe in creating a welcoming environment that nurtures curiosity, personal growth, and building community.

Hello, and welcome to the ASE community!
I'm Melaney, program director and founder of The Accessible Scholastic Experience. It is my dream and purpose to connect families with the resources they need to provide their children with access to the tools needed in order to thrive. My firm belief is that, "It takes a village to raise a child," (African proverb). We, as parents, were never meant to do this alone; we were always meant to do this in community. My aim is to create this community of diverse families who share the values of creativity, kindness, empathy, teamwork, reflection, inclusivity, and belonging.

I come to you equipped with over a decade of teaching experience in Seattle area independent schools including The Evergreen School and University Child Development School. The majority of my work has centered around twice exceptional learners with both high IQ and neurodivergent diagnoses. This work puts my specific set of skills to use each and every day. I love getting to individualize instruction to the exact needs of the student(s) in front of me. I completed my M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Washington in conjunction with a graduate certificate in Education, Environment, and Community from IslandWood, on Bainbridge Island. So my methods are rooted in place based-nature instruction that takes the physical and mental developmental stages of the students into account.
If learning in, about, and through nature sounds like something your child would benefit from, this is probably the community for you!
